y50-70 installing Sandisk Ultra SSD 960GB FAILS

Help!

I've got a SanDisk Ultra II SSD (906GB)

When i replace the HDD in the y50-70 I get all sets of weirdness. The screen "looses" a chunk at the bottom, I can't

control the brightness and a few other things go weird.

Put the original HDD back in and its all fine no issues all happy.

Any ideas?

I've got the bios " LENOVO 20378/Lenovo Y50-70, BIOS 9ECN31WW(V1.14) 08/18/2014"

installed. I also run linux not windows

Between this and the naff WIFI card that you can't replace I won't be buying another lenovo - sad to say

Got a y50-70 UHD but has a rubbish RTL WiFi card - on a mission to get a better one.

Have you tried resetting the bios after installing the ssd? Also disable Secure boot while you are installing the OS.

Yes

Back to the factory defaults

Booting was fine - installing the OS was fine

except the loss of the bottom 1/2 inch of the screen

it was recognised - just wasn't displaying

Everything "worked" - just the brightness control didn't work.

Very weird

Maybe the unit is now operating too fast. A bios update might be necessary.
