y50 will not boot

Hi, I am encountering issues with my laptop again.

So, earlier today, I was using my laptop normally. The first issue that happened was that Steam would not load. Firefox and other programs worked fine. I then decided to restart my computer. When I left and came back from the bathroom, the system had not restarted.  I then did a force shut down on it.  When I tried powering it on, the computer said it was applying Windows updates, then went black when it restarted. This is whereI am at now.

When I press the power button on my laptop, the keyboard lights up and the backlight comes on, but nothing else happens. I cannot the the Lenovo that the computer usually displays on start. I can hit the power button again, and it turns back off. I cannot access the BIOS or the normal start.

Thank you in advance for your help, and I am sorry for having so many problems with this thing.

Re: y50 will not boot

Can you try turning it "on", then pressing and holding the power button for 5-10 seconds? Maybe it's actually going into standby instead of turning off.

Re: y50 will not boot

See, I would think that too. I just did it again, to make sure, and I heard
the sound of the disks inside spinning, then stop as I turned it off.
The error still persists, just the same as it was before.

Re: y50 will not boot

Seems like windows could be corrupted. Not sure what could have happened but the options remaining are -

1) Laptop Reset using NOVO button.

2) Installing a new windows yourself.

3) Sending it to Lenovo for repair.

You can try taking out the battery, pressing power button for 30 seconds OR taking out the HDD and testing it (replacement), maybe the HDD crashed, but I would only recommend the above 3 options (preferably 1 and 3).

Re: y50 will not boot

What is wrong with option 2? I feel like that is what I would do first

Re: y50 will not boot

Actually, I would rather send it in to Lenovo. Can you arrange it through
the forums?

Re: y50 will not boot

This is the second time I will have sent in this laptop, and I am starting
to become aggravated on how many problems I have had with this computer in
the last two months since I got it.

Re: y50 will not boot

I am not a lenovo employee and anyways you cannot organize a return through forums.

Call the number in your country from this link -

Just curious, Is this your first gaming laptop?

If not, then which one you had before?
