y510p Memory slot

2014-03-08, 21:20 PM

Hi Can you tell me how many memory slots is in y510p? because in windows and cpuz there are 4 slots?

I did not open it. Also in manual I did not find information about it, there are information for 2 slots?

When I bought it in store, I bought 8GB and now I have 8+4  GB, and I did not see additional slots?

Thanks

Page 27 of the hardware maintenance manual: "Standard memory    SODIMM x 2". That is two slots are required. Also on page 41 the picture and drawing indicate two slots.

I'm just pointing the facts provided by the manufacturer of the unit. Try a different software (example Aida32/64) for another opinion.

Well, AIDA64 is showing only 2 slots, but it makes no sense that Task Manager, as well as CPU-Z are showing 4 slots...!

Well to really determine the correct answer I guess you have to open the unit and look inside.

I don't know about that plate covering. Maybe try the hardware maintenance manual. But as far as the number of slot is concern the info from the manual, Aida, and the actual inspection showed 2 slots.

That's the same way CPU-Z shows, slots 1 & 3 as being used, but 2 & 4 as empty.

Wish someone from Lenovo would speak up, but they tend to stay out of here for some reason!
