Re: y510p and problem with Update Nvidia Driver

Try downloading NVIDIA GeForce Experience. It will automatically detect your GPU and update your drivers, a safer option in my opinion. Also, make sure you do a clean install (select custom installation, there will be a box for it near the bottom). Once you've done that, let me know if anything changes.

Y510p: i7 4700MQ (Overclocked to 3.6GHz), SLI GT 755M (Each Overclocked 111MHz), Corsair Vengeance 16GB 2133MHz, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, MyDigitalSSD SuperBoot 128GB, Intel Wireless-AC 7260, Windows 10 Home
Dell XPS 13 (2015): i5 5200U, Intel HD 5500, 4GB 1600MHz, 128GB Samsung M.2 SSD, 802.11ac WLAN, Windows 10 Home (School Laptop)

Re: y510p and problem with Update Nvidia Driver

Is the card showing up in Device Manager? If so, does it show any errors or is it supposedly functioning properly?

Re: y510p and problem with Update Nvidia Driver

Hi Y510Man,

The video graphics installation order is important. You need to install the Intel Graphics first, and then do the Nvidia. IIRC you should un-install the Nvidia driver, then re-install (or upgrade) the Intel HD Graphics driver. Reboot, and install the new Nvidia driver.

I don't know why, but every time I upgraded my Y470 Nvidia driver, I had to use this procedure. First install, or re-install, the Intel driver, then install the Nvidia. You can't just upgrade the Nvidia driver without a re-install of the Intel. I think it has to do with the Optimus setting, and the automatic switching.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers
