Last night, my keyboard suddenly decided it didn't want to work. The following keys rarely work (occasionally after hitting them a gazillion times): 0 (wow it worked just now), p (using on screen keyboard, now 0 is not working so I need onscreen to close these parentheses), colon/semicolon key, and slash/question mark key.
I really hoe this is not a hardware issue as this comuter isnt even 2 years old yet, and having a functioning keyboard is kind of essential. Esecially when some of the affected keys are in your assword... Not sure if the 4 affected keys are connected hysically and thats why theyre acting u together, or if this could have something to do with the fact that the issues arose immediately after some Windows udates.
I would immensely areciate any hel ! Thank you!

Hi Imjustaguy ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Better to isolate hardware issue from software is to make the computer boot on a rescue media and try typing from it . Using an external USB keyboard and onscreen keyboard further isolate probability of a bad keyboard specially if same thing fails in BIOS (like test typing the affected letter in security password but NOT to save it , for testing only) .
Update us how it goes.

Thank you for getting back to me.
However, I just noticed that there are 3 more keys (for a total of 7 that dont work (not sure if this is new or I just never noticed). Wow, that close arenthesis key works like 50% of the time!] The minus key, oen bracket, quote and comma key dont work either.
I lugged in an external keyboard and everything works fine on it. Same with onscreen keyboard.
I also tested in MiniX from Hirens Boot CD and under the assword thing in BIOS and the issue ersists...namely, the letter after o and before q and 0 dont work at all and the other several keys rarely work.
So I guess this is is a hardware roblem, huh

Hi Imjustaguy ,
Yes , that only confirmed keyboard hardware issue and seing that it is also localized on certain area as P [ ]o 0 keys you would have to get the entire keyboard replaced .
Hope this helped answer your initial query.

Thanks for the help. Though 2 days ago, evey key on my keyboard miraculously started working again.
That being said, I'm a bit concerned that this issue may arise again, and at a time when it will literally kill me to not have a working keyboard. However, I'm not about to spend $75 on a keyboard replacement for a 1.8-year-old $1600 laptop. I guess I'll have to contact Lenovo next because I'm not very pleased.
Anyway, again, thanks for your help.
