So I purchased a y570 (i7 2630 2.0 ghz, 6 gb ddr3, 555m, etc) about a month ago. I just finally installed a game this week (BFBC2). I am having HORRIBLE stutter multiple times a minute, even on low settings.
The latest drivers from nvidia don't detect the graphics card when I try to install them directly from nvidia.
Lenovo's support link is broken today so I can't update the bios or driver with their provided.
Anyone heard of this issue before? It almost seems like the computer isn't switching to the 555m. I did go into the nvida control panel and for both the driver updater and the game manually configured it so the GPU would always be used with them with no improvement. Yes, the trigger switch to enable the GPU is on.
Also, in the nvidia control panel I set the global setting to always use the gpu and then disabled the integrated one in device manager and the screen went black. I had to boot using last good known configuration.
Any other ideas on fixes?
EDIT: the video driver on their support website (that I finally got to pull up) is actually older than the one that came installed. Their support site allows browsing at the moment, but not the downloading of anything to roll back the driver to see if there is an improvement
