From the beginning it's worked alright for the most part, but loading programs and specially boot up times were extremely disappointing (over two minutes). Restarts took longer than my old clunky laptop. Some of the lenovo drivers increase boot times dramatically.
Opening up the laptop was something I didn't want to do more than once, so I bought ram, an ssd and a dvd drive bay hdd caddy. I'm using an ssd, an hdd an no optical drive. Adding an ssd will make the biggest performance difference by a HUGE margin. Boot times are now 17 seconds and it's usable as soon as the desktop is up.
If you go this route, install windows on the internal drive first and then add the second drive in the dvd slot. That way boot info won't be saved on the second drive and cause problems if you remove it.
