So i just got my z710 the other day. clone the drive (for a rainy day). Then formated and installed Win7 Pro 64bit. i managed to get everything else in working order except i would like to occasionally turn off the touchpad. i use a mouse for games and such and the hot key doesnt work to turn it off. BTW every other hot key does what its intended to do. Any Suggestions???

Can you check under Control Panel / Uninstall a Program look for Lenovo energy Management / Power Management and Uninstall it.
Then Download and install this
Lenovo Energy Management Driver

still no known solution to the problem. someone suggested a different energy management install which didnt work either.. to be honest im over the fact that the 'hot key' doesnt work.. it would however be nice to be able to somehow turn off the trackpad completely as i dont use it. but the is no way to do it that ive come across. its as if the pc doesnt realize it has a trackpad at all. kinda like the battery issues ive been having...

Can you try updating the Touchpad driver using this
See if that bring the feature back

I shall try that.
However, I am not as concerned with the button not working as much as I am with simply disabling it totally.
I use an external mouse most of the time but do find that the touchpad is far too senstive and moves the cursor around when I type.
So far that's the only flaw I've seen in the otherwise excellent system.
