Lenovo Patch Demo

2020-09-09, 14:52 PM
I have noticed that the Lenovo Patch Utility does not appear to be able to Patch the following 3rd Party applications: 1. Winzip 2. Amyuni PDF Suite 3. Adobe Creative Cloud apps, ie: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator etc. Just wanted to hear your take on ‘why’ these cannot be offered to be Patched, upgraded as well?

@codirosa

I do not know the 'why' behind what software product are supported in that catalog.  I can put in a request to have those items evaluated for addition to the catalog.

@codirosa

WinZip is already included in the list.  As for the others, I will get back to you when I hear about the others.

@codirosa

I have found the following about Adobe Creative Cloud 5 and why it cannot be installed:

"The creative cloud application offered on the public Adobe site will not install as SYSTEM as it requires login during the application’s install. The silent install will then hang awaiting input."

I have submitted the request for Amyuni PDF Suite to be added.  This may be dependent upon the best way to obtain the updates, whether they are accessible or behind a login to obtain.  I will wait on the feedback from the content team.

Hi,

Thank you.   Good to see WinZip is on the list to be able to be Upgraded.

Thank you for requesting Amyuni PDF Suite to see if that can be done too.

I noticed on your site, it does state Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application ‘can’ be Upgraded:

Adobe Creative Cloud (Only Supported in Lenovo Patch Plugin)

QACC450331 - Security updates available for Creative Cloud Desktop Application

QACC441298 - Adobe Creative Cloud 4.4.1.298

QACC430256 - Adobe Creative Cloud 4.3.0.256

QACC411202 - Adobe Creative Cloud 4.1.1.202

*When you are you referring to Adobe Creative Cloud issues with the “not install as SYSTEM as it requires login during the application’s install. The silent install will then hang awaiting input.”   You are referring to the Adobe Creative Cloud applications ‘within’ the Creative Cloud desktop application, such as:  Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator etc. Correct???

@JeremyM10101010

I updated the above post to reflect Adobe Creative Cloud 5.  As for the independent applications of Creative Cloud, I will find out more information.

Thank you.

One last question:

When you utilize Lenovo Patch Utility to Update an application such as WinZip.   If our currently deployed package has Customized settings within it, when you Deploy the Update via Lenovo Patch Utility does it Maintain our customized settings in the package?

@JeremyM10101010

The Adobe Creative Cloud updates in the catalog are from late 2017 and early 2018, so it is likely your installations are already beyond this point.  As I have been tracking this down further, updates for Creative Cloud and the associated desktop application versions starting at 4.6.0.384 require login to complete, therefore the updates cannot be installed as SYSTEM.

What mechanism, .MSI, .EXE,... are you using to install WinZip.  This information will help when researching.

Thanks
