Windows 10 Upgrades, Task Sequences, and Required Updates

We're piloting deployment of Windows 10 1903 via task sequence. At the end of the task sequence, there is a step to install updates and you can select either required or available. Testing showed that if updates published with Lenovo Patch were required, the install updates step would get stuck in a loop attempting install Lenovo driver and firmware updates.

Could this have something to do with the catalog agent being required to parse updates and use during a task sequence?

Has anyone else attempted to install Lenovo Patch updates during an upgrade TS?

Re: Windows 10 Upgrades, Task Sequences, and Required Updates

@johnjohnjohn87,

Yes, this will be related.  You will need to have the LUC Agent installed prior to installing Lenovo Updates.

Check out this link regarding the LUC Agent.

There will soon be a new KB article out regarding the appropriate way to handle the LUC Agent during an Upgrade Task Sequence, which would produce a similar result.

@johnjohnjohn87,

An additional note, you will have to ensure that the certs are on the computer and the registry entry enabling 3rd party updates are on the system prior to installing the LUCAgent and any additional updates.
