PFA

Does anyone know the features of PFA?  (Predictive Failure Analysis).

The only thing I can find is that this is something built into the XClarity.

Hello, PFA is part of System x & ThinkSystem RAS features. RAS=Reliability Availabilty Serviceability.

This was originally a feature built into IBM System x products and now has carried over to Lenovo System x and Lenovo ThinkSystem.

Certain components support PFA, so the component can be removed prior to going bad. It is my understanding that Lenovo supports more PFA compenents than any otherOEM.

Here is a link to an old IBM document that explains PFA: http://www-05.ibm.com/hu/termekismertetok/xseries/dn/pfa.pdf

Let me know if you need more info. Cheers.

XCC on thinksystem will monitor all the data according to it's FW, if any component trigger  the PFA threshold, XCC will report in event logs  and take action according FW.  thanks.
