CD-4N341Y smart clock won't connect to Google Home

When I attempt to set up my smart clock, I get the message, "Lenovo CD-4N341Y found. It needs to be activated before setup. This device has a few extra steps before you can start setup. Go to the Help Center to learn more."

The help center tells me this message means I need to download the device's utility app to set it up before I can set it up in Google Home.

I tried turning the smart clock off and on again and closing and reopening my Google Home app. I also tried factory resetting the clock and rebooting my phone. I continued to get the same error message.

Re:CD-4N341Y smart clock won't connect to Google Home

Welcome to Community Forums @RonB75 ,

Greetings.

I suggest you to follow the steps below which is seen through the Smart Clock Essential's User Guide to set up the device successfully:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Get started and register your Google account.
  3. Add the new device in Google Home. The Google Home app will scan for nearby devices.
  4. Select the device that you want to connect.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device.

By the way, please ensure that the Smart Clock Essential and your smartphone where the Google Home app is installed are connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Aside from that, enable Bluetooth pairing by pressing and holding the alarm setup button and the volume up button for at least 3 seconds for it to be discoverable.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo

Re:CD-4N341Y smart clock won't connect to Google Home

I looked at the manual before setting up and followed those directions.

I'm not sure how I would put the clock on the same WiFi without setting it up in the Google Home app.

The Google Home app recognizes the CD-4N341Y on Bluetooth. When I try to add it according to the instructions in the manual, I get the error message in the original post.

I'm pretty sure the problem is with the smart clock. I've been able to configure several other devices with the Google Home app without any problem, and they are working properly.

Re:CD-4N341Y smart clock won't connect to Google Home

Hello @RonB75 ,

Sorry for missing out your response!

By the way, were you able to download the Device Utility app on your smartphone? If yes, it would be worth to try downloading the Google Home app into a different smartphone instead to pair it on the Smart Clock Essential. Make sure to reset it again by pressing and holding the Alarm button and the Volume Down button at the same time for 12 seconds.

Hope this works this time.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo
