Re:Non stop update reboot loop

2020-05-14, 4:14 AM

I've just got a 10" model and it is also stuck in the update boot loop (goes to 100%)

I've tried the resets and the changing wifi but no joy

Is there a real fix? I note Lenova say it is...but it appears not to be!

I received a Lenovo Smart Display 8 yesterday and tried adding it to my google home. It is in a constant update loop. I have factory reset it and removed the power cord, left it on over night and it is still in an update loop

If it's any comfort to you, my issue above resolved, randomly after a couple of days on the update cycle.

I have fast internet so it's not a bandwidth issue on the update coming in. Seems to me that it's a very slow update process internally.

Miguel, this hasn’t fixed the update loop as I only just got a Smart Display and it is still doing it

My new 8" Lenovo Display has been in an update loop for 20 hours.

Have tried factory reset.

Is there a fix?

Tony

There is not point of leaving it plugged in and hoping it will resolve it self. I would suggest to contact the seller and get it replaced(that's what I did). You also can talk to Lenovo support on phone if you are not able to get it replaced.

I haven't looked through all the recent posts but have you tried rebooting your modem and router? I have owned a Lenovo 10" display for 2 yrs now and have never had this issue. The Lenovo display I own sometimes has issues streaming and rebooting the display it's doesn't always fix the problem. I also had a Chromecast stuck in an update loop and rebooting my modem for some strange reason fixed it. If you have a chance reboot your modem and router then with the display plugged in hold down both volume buttons for 8-10 seconds to factory reset it. If your display doesn't come on and update after that I would follow other suggestions and return the device. I own 2 Lenovo smart clocks and Lenovo finally admitted there was a streaming problem with them. Hopefully that is something they fix soon as it makes them next to worthless for streaming or using a media alarm with the alarm clock portion.

Finally came good at 60 something hours of continuous update reboot loop. Now have a functioning display.

I left it running, turned it on and off about 20 times in the interim, but every time downloaded an update on restart and finally woke up this morning and its working.
