Personal Settings for Alexa Lost When Rebooting the Tablet

2019-02-14, 22:16 PM

I'm not sure why, but any changes I make in the Alexa settings on my Smart Tab P10 are reset to default the next time the tablet is powered off and back on (or rebooted).

For example, I'll set my Alexa Home Screen background to use photos from my Amazon photos account, but following a reboot that setting changes back to the default generic Alexa background images.

No idea if it's related but none of the home screen content (trending topics, upcoming events, reminders etc.) work either even though all the toggles for these things are set to on in the settings. What I'm left with is a bland looking generic background with a random "Try saying..." tip at the bottom, with none of my personalised content or trending topics showing up at all.

I contacted Alexa support, but they said it's a Lenovo problem. There's a surprise...

Re: Personal Settings for Alexa Lost When Rebooting the Tablet

I have actually experienced this issue anytime the P10 is removed from the dock to be used as a tablet.  Once I put back into the dock and Show mode starts up the Alexa settings are back to default so my Amazon photots no longer show...only the generic pages from Amazon.  So I don't even need to physically reboot the tablet to expereince this, only use the product as it is intended!

With a normal Echo Show I've read its possible to set this up on the Alexa App under device settings also.  Unfortunatly the Lenovo Show doesn't show up under device settings in the Alexa app with the same option.  When slecting my "Paul's Amazon Alexa - Show Mode for Lenono" under device settings in the Alexa app on my phone, only have the option to set the Home Screen Background, which is a single static image.

I am hopeful an update from Lenovo will fix this.  Were you able to find anywhere to open an actual ticket for this issue with Lenovo?

Bonsoir Miguel,

Good evening Miguel,
Thank you, good news for buyers. Unfortunately there are still many problems such as an untimely scrolling of my personal photos. More than a gigabyte of data in a few hours. The screen saver does not take the hand if I choose the clock after 1 minute of activity.

Good weekend.

Re: Personal Settings for Alexa Lost When Rebooting the Tablet

After updating the app I can confirm that personal photo album continue to show after the tablet has been undocked/redocked.

Unfortunatly though, the photos themselves now change every 2 seconds.  Despite being set to "slow every 10 sxeconds" in the Alexa app, my pics continnue to zip by every 2 seconds.  It is so distracting and annoying I've had to turn off the personal photo album completely and am back to the default backgrounds.

So although the originally reported issue has been fixed, overall useability has gone backwards unfortunatly.

Curious if others are experiencing this same issue since the update.

,

Since this seems to be a new issue please go ahead and open up a new discussion. The original question is solved so for better tracking and for better visibility let's start a new thread.

Tab won't save personal settings after docking un-docking

2019-03-10, 7:25 AM

Lenovo Show mode version : latest one eg 1.0.196.0

Try this :

- undock the tab

- put sleep mode after 2 mins (instead of 5by default) in display settings

- put the tab on the dock and go back to the display settings. Sleep mode came back to default eg 5min.

Same thing for the screen off mode (photo frame etc...)

Really annoying

Please advice

Is your tablet up-to-date as well?

Just to clarify, sleep more is setting for tablet or for show mode?
