Re: I found a fix to the P10 with Amazon Alexa tablet's Bluetooth disconnection issue!

Wanted to post here as the alexa docking bluetooth issues for this tablet was driving me crazy. It would disconnect everyday and it would be annoying to wake up and say "Alexa..." to find out the tablet disconnected from bluetooth and never reconnected. I think the problem is the bluetooth is being "Battery Optimized" by default. You have to go and turn battery optimization off for bluetooth.

I'm on Android 9:

1. Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Special app access > battery optimization

2. Select "All apps" from the dropdown menu

3. Scroll down and find the app "Bluetooth", select it and then choose "Don't optimize". Click done.

4. I also did the same for the apps "Smart Tab P10" and "Vega OTA". Not sure what these 2 apps do but I disabled battery optimization as well on them.

This seemed to work as the tablet has not disconnected from bluetooth overnight as it usually did before. Hopefully this helps someone with this Amazon alexa tablet/dock.

Re: I found a fix to the P10 with Amazon Alexa tablet's Bluetooth disconnection issue!

Yes, it is still working. I hardly get any disconnects at all. And also reconnecting to Bluetooth is much better as well. Make sure you update to the latest version Amazon Alexa - Show Mode for Lenovo, and the Lenovo Smart Dock Firmware Updater in the Google Play store. Some other steps you can try. Not sure if those will have any affect either, but these are some of the settings I have done.

Set Amazon Alexa - Show Mode for Lenovo as the default "Assist & Voice Input"

1. Go to settings > Apps & notifications > Default apps > Assist & voice input. Then select Amazon Alexa - Show Mode for Lenovo

2. The caveat is this removes Google Assistant as the default, even when the tablet is not docked.

Change Navigation bar mode

1. Go to settings > Display > Navigation bar mode > Select Classic mode

Do a factory reset: This Will reset the whole device, so you will need to set up everything again.

1. Go to settings > System > Reset Options. Then select Erase all data

2. This will erase everything, so you have to go through all the steps to setup the device again such as updating the software mentioned above and doing all the bluetooth optimization stuff I mentioned.

There doesn't seem to be an option to mark your own post as a solution. I think someone else has to mark it.

Returning the Tab's default Assistant from Google to Alexa brought back a consistent BT connection. Thanks!

Yes, i think they need to fix this! Its annoying. It gets disconnected while playing music.and they should fix also about the aceen saver which going black and showing only the time.I think thats the reason why the bluetooth god disconnected because it thinks its the tablet is sleeping.Maybe they should let the tablet always while docked

Re:I found a fix to the P10 with Amazon Alexa tablet's Bluetooth disconnection issue!

I found a solution on another thread that worked for me. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Smart-Tab-with-Amazon/Smart-Tab-Dock-Firmware-Issue/m-p/4530135 Instructions there are missing a step though. After clicking about tablet click build number 7 times to become developer. The setting that needs to be changed is in system->developer options.
