Beep codes for S10?

2009-06-25, 20:44 PM

Hi,

When I turn on my S10, I get a blank screen with a 1-3-4-3 beep code.  I've searched a little bit and for desktops, that points to bad RAM.  Is this the same for the S10?

thanks,

John

Thanks Kalvin.  I've listenedto the code a few times and it doesn't look like it matches up.  I'm gonna give Lenovo a call.

(Thanks Frank for the pdf also!)

I wish I knew what the resolution was for this OP. My S10 is giving me this exact same 3-4-3 code and I tried the reset already with no change.

In the PDF already posted it shows an error in the first bank of memory which on an S10 I assume is the soldered memory on the motherboard (bummer).

Maybe I get to make the call to Lenovo now.

No luck on ebay for internal parts to fit the S10! My old HP laptop was saved from the grave a couple of times by repairing it with used parts off ebay.

I'm wondering if any of you guys ever found out what was wrong or managed to repair your netbook? A friend of mine gave it to me today with the same symptoms - 1-3-4-3 beeps with no display and no other activity. This beep code is not documented by the lenovo manuals, and the only match is found in the phoenix bios beep code list where it says: RAM failure on data bitsxxxx of low byte memory bus / Check the first bank of memory and the motherboard.

I've tried to remove both the hard-drive and the RAM module but it's still dead. The odd thing is that sometimes it just powers on and does nothing (blank display, no activity, etc) and sometimes it beeps (maybe in 1 of 10 tries). In all cases it can only be turned off by holding the power button for some 6 seconds. I guess - whatever the issue - it is dead now?
