Can I replace the HDD on an IDEAPAD S10-2 by a SSD?

2017-07-18, 11:56 AM

Hello,

I've got a rather old (and lame) Ideapad S10-2. But it still works - I upgraded the memory from 1GB to 2GB when I started to use it some years ago. No other HW changes so far.

My question is: Would I get a "real" growth in speed if I replace the HDD with an SSD? Has anybody done that and can tell me it it's worth the time and money?

And if yes: Could I simply clone the HDD to the SSD (with the SSD-manufacturer's tools) and replace the HDD with the SSD? Would I need to change/update the BIOS?

Thanks for all ideas!

Titus
