Can't change screen brightness anymore - U410

2014-06-27, 8:38 AM

For some reason I can't change my screen brightness anymore. I've already tried a HD 4000 driver rollback to version 9.17.10.3223 and I also disabled "adaptive screen brightness" at the power management. For some reason I can change the brightness by using the "microsoft basic display adapter" driver instead of the HD 4000 but that isn't a real solution.

Betreff: Can't change screen brightness anymore - U410

2015-11-23, 14:42 PM

Update:

I could solve the problem, while using new drivers, by changing a registry entry. This works also with Windows 10.

1. Open "regedit"

2. Go to this folder:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001

3. Select "FeatureTestControl".

3. Change the value from "F000" to "FFFF"

Hi Daveman,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I’m sorry to hear that the Brightness Feature is not working as expected in your U410 Laptop, I suggest you to re-install LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) in the computer from our support website.

Do post us back if the issue persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

I've installed Lenovo Energy Management for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Notebook Version: 8.0.2.20. I've tried it with Intel HD Graphics 4000 9.17.10.3223 & 10.18.10.3621 but unfortunately the issue persists.

Hi Daveman,

As the issue persists even after re-installing the Display driver & LEM, the only available option to check this issue if it’s Hardware related is by performing OSRI (Operating System Re-Install). Please let me know if the issue persists.

NOTE: Please backup the data in the computer before performing OSRI, as the data will be completely erased.

Hope to hear back soon

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

I could solve the problem by installing Intel VGA Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad U310, U310 Touch, U410, U410 Touch (driver version 9.17.10.2817)
