2009-03-17, 17:07 PM

As the question above, could anyone tell me how to active the language which has already had on computer?

I think I saw the instruction somewhere on notebook-guide, but i forget which page, I remember they showed how to active the Chinese language, which had already had on my computer, by pressing 3 combination key ....something .... i forget.

Please help me if you can , thank you all .

Re: HOW TO ACTIVE THE MULTI-LANGUAGE?

2009-03-17, 19:15 PM

Just completed this process on my 1 week old S10

The Multi-language process showed missing file "XJIS.NLS" on my S10 when I tried to install.

Go to Control Panels

Go to Regional and Language Options

under the Languages tab, check "Install files for East Asian languages"

I got a message saying file XJIS.NLS could not be found in the i386 folder.

Fortunately for me, I had an old XP Home CD and an external CD unit.

I browsed for it and the installer found it.

Search Google for the file name, and I think you will be able to download it.

There is plenty of info on the web about this.

Afterwards, I looked in my i386 folder on the hard drive for the file.

I could only find a file named "XJIS.NL_"

So I think something changes during the installation.

Be aware some other files could have been installed from the CD.

Wish I knew more!

Thank you for you help,

But think my topic doesn't clear enough.

I mean that ... I used to see the guide-book show that how to ative the multi-language (ex: Chinese), which had already set up, by pressing THREE combination key on the keyboard such as Ctrl, Shift, Alt or Fn.

That kind of language already been setup, we don't need to do anything just used .... 3-combine-keys to use it, like using Fn+Esc to open/close the webcam.

That Chinese language has already installed, I just want to know which key should i press to open it.

The procedure the first replier shows I have already known, after installing it, you have to restart the computer and when you want to type Chinese, you have to press Alt+Shift to switch. I am really already known. But I also thanks for your help.

Sorry, I miss understood your question.

I just wanted to view web pages that contained Chinese text/fonts.

I'm no expert, but my wife uses Mandarin, so I have a history of experiences.

Are you using the Chinese XP operating system?

Or some application that allows you to input in Chinese?

On this model (S10), We don't had CD-ROM/DVD-ROM to copy the files required to install "others language character" to support web browser and several application. So... on this model, Lenovo already have store the necessary files into folder names I386.

While browsing the files of "XJIS.NLS" please locate the files in path; C:/I386 - U can see the files there and double click on it. Wait until installation of the application completed and restart the computer. I hope this help.
