How can I enable U530 to have Intel Rapid Storage Technology on Windows 7?

Hi,

I'm using Lenovo Ideapad U530. The hard drive is 1TB 5400rpm + 16G mSATA SSD Cache.

I installed Windows 7 SP1 enterprise version. How I can use Intel Rapid Storage Technology? I'd like to let the Windows 7 use 16G SSD for high speed cache. From the BIOS, I haven't seen any place that I can change the SATA mode to RAID. The BIOS options for U530 are very little, I can't see any options related to the hard drive.... I've installed the software Intel Rapid Storage Technology, but there's no "accelerate" button on it.

Could anyone help me?

Thanks!

You'll need an actual caching software; Rapid Storage just manages your storage devices.

This might work:

Re: How can I enable U530 to have Intel Rapid Storage Technology on Windows 7?

Thank you so much! Finally I've mounted the SSD as cache now!

BTW, I just found the wireless card Intel Wireless-N 7260 on U530 can only work on 2.4GHz... Could help me double check whether it is only single band?

If I need dual band wireless, can I upgrade to this dual 7260?

I wonder if it is compatible with Lenovo U530? Thanks!

Re: How can I enable U530 to have Intel Rapid Storage Technology on Windows 7?

It's possible that it's single-band. Apparently, the single-band 7260 is just a soft-locked dual-band 7260. If you feel like hacking a driver, you might be able to unlock it. (Or if you run Linux, apparently.)

The U530 BIOS whitelist will reject a non-Lenovo branded card, and may not include a dual-band 7260 card at all.

Probably none readily available. I haven't heard of this being done or being claimed to be doable in Windows.

Re: How can I enable U530 to have Intel Rapid Storage Technology on Windows 7?

I really need to use 5GHz on this laptop, while still running Windows. If I don't de-whitelist the BIOS, is this compatible with U530?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/190934078744

It appears to be Lenovo compatible. Thanks!

Possibly, but also possibly not.

What's the PCI/VEN ID of your current card?

I've taken a photo of it. Is this info enough? Thanks!
