I have a Lenovo IdeaPad U300s which has died, and of course I don't have current backups. I figure the SSD still has my data, and thought I'd just pull the SSD and read it on another computer, but I don't know what kind of adaptor I need to use.
The SSD isn't in a typical hard drive case, it looks more like a memory card with a series of chips, but instead of edge connectors that go into a bus slot, it has a connector to a ribbon cable on one end. You can see a picture on page 58 of the hardware manual: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_%20u300_u300s_u400_hmm_1st_edition_oct_2011...
Does anyone have any hints on how I could read this data? Feel free to chastize me for not making backups :-)

Hi there. Your computer uses a Mini PCIe SSD. If you want to retrieve your data, you will need to buy a Mini PCIe SSD adapter to USB. There are many options for such on Amazon, eBay, etc.

I have a similar thing with you, but the SSD is non-standard one, so does not connect the mini PCLE USB connector, what do you finally solved the problem?
thanks again and very appreciate for your help!
