Could you please let me know the exact model number for the 2GB memory I need to look for ,to expand the Lenovo S10 memory to the top? I see all kinds of models listed at the online stores and dont know which ones will be compatible with the S10. Thanks.

Re: IdeaPad S10 maximum memory

I walked in to a local CompUSA store, and showed the tech there a print out of an online article about adding memory to the S10. The tech installed the 2 gigs, and only charged me for the memory.  He added 2 gigs in the second slot, and when we powered up the computer, the soldered 512 was not recognized, but the 2 gigs were recognized, as I had expected.  The performance on my S10 did improve.

The links below have information about the type of memory chips needed to do this:

Re: IdeaPad S10 maximum memory

Hello everyone, just wondering, what is the performence incrrease from adding a 1GB dimm instead of a 2GB only? I believe that having two dimms working together will increase performence because we will be using two busses instead of one. To rephrase my question; anyone tried 2GB (one 2GB dimm, soldered dimm disabled) VS 1.5 GB (one 1GB dimm, soldered dimm enabled)?

Thanks in advance.

Because dual channel is not supported on this laptop chip, so having two identical ram module will not enchance performance independent of module capacity.

Running with 2G does surely enhance performance before more Ram means less access to hard drive for virtual memory.

The demand of ram depends on your software usage.

If you are trying to compare a clean windows with 1G and 2G ram, you may google it.

2G ram does usually enhance 20% of performance.

You cannot setup a comparison test to see the performance of a single module and multi module on this laptop because you cannot have identical total ram capacity on this machine with single module and multi module.

And it is not possible to quote a desktop multi module vs single module test to predict the result on this laptop because dual channel is enabled on desktop, and performance enhancement is a must with dual channel mode.

P.S. Dual Channel Mode is a memory transfer technology which is not simply two modules, but also requires support by the chipset. and dual channel mode is not supported on Ideapad S10.

I would be happy if you could help me fix the One Key Recovery Issue I mentioned.

Thank you!
