Yesterday my netbook started having trouble booting when it has been turned off. During the BIOS self-test (when the big lenovo logo is displayed) it locks up with gray horizontal dotted lines in the display.
The only thing I can do is to hold the power-button till it turns off again, then I can turn it on and it boots normally (so far).
The problem seems to occur everytime it has been turned off now . Hope someone can help.
It's an S12 with Intel chipset and 2 GB ram with Ubuntu 10.04 installed. I don't think it's a software problem since it locks up before the self-test is done.

Will try that later.
EDIT: I was going to try out your advice today, but thought I would try another hint from this forum: Remove the battery and power supply and hold the power-button for 10 secs. And guess what: That did the trick
At least for now. (Maybe it's just a periodic fail in the Ram. I'll have to wait and see.)
