Give Lenovo Support a call and see what options are available if your computer is out of warranty.  You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support by using the link below....

Re: IdeaPad U530 Touch Hinge struck.

My hinge failed on 2/23/15.........the very day that Lenovo admitted on the
forum they had a problem with the U530 and stated that they would make
repairs if the computer was in warranty and had not been abused.
Fortunately, mine was only 9 or 10 months old and they gave authorization
to return it to them to effect the repair. About a week later, I received
notification that parts would not be available for another month. A few
days later, I received a telephone call stating that Lenovo would refund
the purchase price of the computer. They were good to their word and I
received a check about 2 1/2 weeks later. I'll never purchase from Lenovo
again.

I asume that your machine is out of warranty, right?

Well, if that was your case then call 1-877-453-6686 to see what that can do. but 99% you will have to pay for the repair, that sucks of course, some other companies (maybe Lenovo does too) they may repair for the machine that is "just" out of warranty (maybe a week or few days)

If your machine is still on the 1-year waranty then they repair it for free (after they check to see whether or not you abused the machine), you call 1-877-453-6686 tell them you need to talk to waranty & repair department, there will be an associate who will walk you through the process.

That was a nice move from Lenovo, I wish they could refund for me, my machine is 12- month old though, still waiting for the machine, it is on Lenovo repairing department now, wish me luck.

Re: IdeaPad U530 Touch Hinge struck.

I'm glad there are still fresh replies to this, because my screen has gotten messed up too! The hinge on the right side is missed and has the screen slightly tilted. On top of that, the bottom right of the screen has a crack in which widens when I open up the laptop.  It's still functional, but I'm afraid it wont last very long...

Re: IdeaPad U530 Touch Hinge struck.

My u530 hinge has busted, just like all of these other users have stated. There is a huge amount of evidence on the web, and right here in Lenovo's own web site, that this is an ongoing problem due to a design flaw. However, when I called Lenovo support I was told that my u530 (that has a busted hinge) does not have "the hinge problem". And, since my warranty just expired 2 weeks ago, and the grace period expired last week, I have to pay my own money to repair Lenovo's design flaw. $99 up front,non-refundable, and then an additional unknown amount of money once its evaluated.

Does Lenovo actually believe this is how to treat customers? They know there is a design flaw, yet want us to pay to fix it? Do they really expect a customer to return (buy more products) after going through something like this? Do they expect me not to post on every social media site, and review site what I've gone through in hopes of helping others know what to expect from Lenovo?

Update: After some escalation, Lenovo is going to cover the repair as a warranty repair with the disclaimer that they need to evaluate it. I assume this means they'll make sure it's the known problem, and does not have other signs of damage.
