U330: Cannot wake up from sleep after updating to Windows 8.1

I updated my U330 to Windows 8.1. The process appeared to go smoothly, but I now have another new issue.

If I close the lid, it goes to sleep. When I re-open the lid, the sytem does not wake up automatically. Pressing power button does nothing as well.

All I can do is a hard shutdown (pressing the power button for longer time) and reboot.  This occasionally gives an error message on restart, but has not produced any absolute solutions to the wake up issue.

Re-instaling new and older drivers do not solve the problem.

A new BIOS should fix this.

Please check the download link below to the get the BIOS.

The version should be 7CCN34WW.

Attention: Do not power off or restart your computer during the BIOS flashing process, which will cause serious damage and improper functioning of your computer.

Our community user has shared a detailed method should a user encounters a problem of updating BIOS such as the screen shot below:

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Enter BIOS by press NOVO button.
  3. Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy on the last tab.
  4. Hit F10 to save changes and re-boot Windows.
  5. Run the update file again.
