My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working. I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution. I've also tried a system restore with no luck.
The system properties does see the touch capability.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
First do a Power Drain
(If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

Thank you for the suggestion.
Before I did the power drain I decided to run a "Chkdsk" from an elevated command prompt and either that fixed the problem or your suggestion fixed it.

Your account on your computer my be an "administrator" account. If it isn't, you must log into your PC from one. In addition you must also run the chkdsk command from an elevated command prompt, ie, when right click on the "cmd" command and choose "run as administrator".

I have 2 Lenovos, both of them are S415. The first one already has about 2 or 3 months of having it's touchscreen useless. And now just a couple of days ago I started having the same problem in my personal Lenovo S415. I've tried both, a chkdsk /r and the power drain and none of those are working for me.
Can somebody help me please.
I'm so disappointed about Lenovo, in the last year I placed my full trust in this brand because of all the good comments around the Internet and I bought three pcs: 2 Lenovo S415 and 1 Yoga 2 11. Sadly I've already had problems with both S415. Luckily no problems YET with the Yoga 2 but now I'm thinking I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few months I get some problems even with the Yoga 2.
I've also tried to reset the calibration of the touch screen and wasn't able to do it, apparently it has the factory settings. Please, someone with another solution, I would greatly appreciate your help.

In response to customer reports, Lenovo completed an investigation into touch panels on S415 laptops that stop working.
