Ideapad S415 touchscreen no longer working

2014-08-31, 23:16 PM

The computer recognizes that the screen is touch capable when I try to calibrate, but theres no response to my touch. It worked fine yesterday, but the day before that I lost the touch capabilty aswell.

Nothing has really happened to my Laptop to make it change so suddenly. Any ideas?

To resolve the touchscreen issue follow below steps.
1. Open Device Manager and uninstall all that start with HID- under Human interface devices.
2. Restart the system and see if that works.

Also perform a Power Drain. If the battery is removable, remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec. Turn the computer back on and check now if touchscreen is working fine.

I have tried every trick in the book for getting my touchscreen to work. Power drain, chkdsk, advanced restart, firmware restart, etc

Nothing works, the only reason I chose this laptop over another more powerful was because of the touchscreen and it's not working.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Do I need to replace the screen or do I need to install a drive, replace a connection ribbon inside or something?

Regards,

Take the bottom off and check to see if the connector for the screen is loose. Should be right by the fan. The sides of the connector are plastic under the sleeving so just push that until it goes back in.
