Ideapad S510p battery not charging and stuck at 1%

hi there.

I have Ideapad S510p laptop with Windows 10 Pro. The battery of the laptop was working fine but some weeks ago when laptop was idle and battery got drained to 0% and laptop got shut down as battery got totally drained then after that i started laptop & tried to charge battery, it won't charge. It shows 1% and charging but it won't go any further for hours and after some hours it would show notification pop up that its battery has gone to 0%. yes the battery is old but it should show only 1%. Why is it doing that? any solution to this? Also what can i do to caliberate new battery and that it shows correct time and notifications?

Please help me with this.

Re: Ideapad S510p battery not charging and stuck at 1%

Hi Sentient

Greetings.

I would suggest trying to remove the AC charger and battery and follow recommended power check out from the hardware manual (page 21-22 Checking operational charging and Checking the battery pack).

Without the AC adapter and battery, press down the power button for 30 seconds to drain remaining flea power and try to connect the battery and AC adapter back after 1 hour (placing the battery in a dry room temperature).

Without turning the laptop on, allow it to stay connected with the charger for 1-2 hours as it should show the battery indicator LED to change from solid amber to fast blinking amber to slow blinking to white LED as shown in the status indicator guide (page28).

Above direction would at least give hint on the hardware integrity of the battery.

Otherwise, if the issue is with software detection, you may check on the same steps described here in this discussion.

Update us how things go.

Regards

Re: Ideapad S510p battery not charging and stuck at 1%

hi,

thanks for replying. I have tried removing battery and AC Adaptor and pressing the power button for 30 seconds to drain the remainging flea charge and then connected the laptop with only AC adaptor and after some time connected the battery but to no avail. Have tried this 3-4 times.

Also when i keep the battery on charging the amber light indicator on the laptop slowly blinks all the time never changes to white or stops blinking. It does show time remaining for full charge (e.g. 4 hr and 56 mins untill full charge) but the battery never goes above 1%.

I have tried uninstalling and installing

Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface (ACPI) Driver for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit) ...

but it doesn't help.

So my question, has the battery totally gone and won't charge and won't give backup at all?

Regards.

Re: Ideapad S510p battery not charging and stuck at 1%

Hi Sentient

Greetings.

You may try setting the BIOS to its default but as manually charging the battery without turning the machine on do not need any drivers or OS to do so.

Similar to the operational charging guide (page21-22), with a discharged battery the indicator should change but if that stays off (or in our case amber blinking) then you can decide checking it with a known good battery or test originally battery with similar laptop model to verify a bad battery.

Regards
