They should send all of us checks for wasting our time over this and for being so obnoxiously unresponsive.

Re: Ideapad U350 Fan Control / Speed

Hey middleton, great job, works perfect!

Now I´m completely happy with my machine!

Suffering has come to an end!

Thank you very, very much for caring about us U350-users (where lenovo didn´t...).

My cpu is an Intel Pentium SU4100 Prozessor (1,3 GHz), Dual-Core.

Fan is nearly unaudible till 65°C, then turns full(?) speed till 54°C, then quiets down again.

65°C is reached only if cpu runs at 95-100%.

Re: Ideapad U350 Fan Control / Speed

It seems the most U350 machines use temperature table #3 (see my previous messages):

44 - 40
49 - 45
52 - 47
54 - 49
64 - 55

It's funny but I solved U350 fan issue a very long time ago. But lenovo didn't publish BIOS updates for U350 - it's important because you can't flash the modded BIOS back without an official BIOS update. As soon as the first U350 BIOS update was published, I immediately placed here the modded firmware.

hi

tested the modded bios and it works perfect.

i used prime95 stress test my cpu and the fan kicked full speed in at 65°C (used CoreTemp to read temp.)

i have the model with Core Duo U4100

i edited the DSDT tabel myself but had no luck so thx i´ve alrady given up hope ;)

How do you know that temp is really at 65° when CoreTemp says it is? Just installed it on my desktop (which has a program by mainboard manufactorer that tells me the cpu temp) and compared the real temp to the one CoreTemp tells me.

10° difference....So your U350 could easily be at 75° when fan kicks in

Is there a more accurate method of determining cpu temp???

Hi, I used CPUID HWMonitor.

The significant temperature there for the fan to kick on is the ACPI temperature.

The two core temperatures were about 5°C lower.

Hi, big problem.

The Bios Update works with the fan noise but i can run Windows only 2minutes then  appears a blue screen and the laptop is  shutting down.

What can i do? I dont know whats the problem, do i have to reinstall the original bios or its a hardware problem??

Pls help... anybody with similar problems?

wep

U450p firmware has been written in another way. But I think I found the fan control code. Send me a private message with your email.

Try to flash the original lenovo BIOS. If nothing changed, then you have a hardware issue.
Now you are starting to understand why lenovo didn't fix the fan problem earlier :smileyhappy:.

I cant start the flashup because windows shows the bluescreen after 1-2min. There is a Error Code, but i dont understand the meaning.

Should i reinstall Win7 or what would you do?

Reinstalling Windows is the last method you should use. First of all try to determine the reason of the blue screen. Could you take a picture of your the blue screen with a camera or mobile phone and upload it to some photo hosting?

Also try to load Windows in safe mode. If your system is running OK, then there is a problem with either hardware or device driver.
