Re: Ideapad U350 Fan Control / Speed

2010-11-01, 13:36 PM

U350 BIOS has 2 fan speed tables (each table contains 6 speeds). I modified the first and the second speeds in each table. Others for high temperatures are untouched. So temperature thresholds are the same but speeds 1 and 2 (used in idle) are lowered.

There are 7 temperature thresholds tables. I don't know which one is used in your laptop. Maybe each processor model has its own temperature table. So I leave temperature thresholds tables alone.

I edited fan speed tables. There are 6 speeds for the fan. We can change each speed the way we want. I lowered the first two speeds and now I need your feedback. Is it enough or I should lower the speeds once again.

Unfortunately the new BIOS did not solve the fan noise, at least for my U350. I don't think that Lenovo will launch another BIOS so I'm rather unpleased about their autism regarding fan noise issue...it's really a shame!!!

The first tester says that my update HAS effect - the fan speed is lower now. I want you to understand - I can set ANY fan speed even zero one. The only problem left is to define the fan speeds that suits you. I'm not an owner of U350 and I can't test BIOS mods by myself. That's why I need some feedback from you and other U350 owners.

You should not download BIOS from lenovo's web site. Download and test my BIOS mod (see my previous messages in this thread).

I don't know I don't have U350 :smileyhappy:. Try it and see what happens.
