Lenovo Ideapad S510p Ram Upgrade

2014-07-14, 9:30 AM

Can I use DDR3 1600 MHz ram for S510p? The specs say DDR3L 1600 MHz.

"L" is just the designation used for the RAM  which consumes lesser voltage compared to the DDR3.  So yes, you can use DDR3L in your laptop.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad S510p Ram Upgrade

2017-09-22, 7:05 AM

I would like to add memory to my ideapad s510p (no touch), so keep the factory memory (samsung m471B5173bh0-yk0, 4g, ddr3L, 1600 mhz) and add a new memory ram (8g, maybe crucial or kingston) for a total of 12g.

what is the best choice to add to existing memory to work good together? 1600 or 1866 mhz ?

can the ideapad work good with one ram 1600mhz (factory) + one ram 1866 mhz (new ram) ?

or is it better to add a new 1600mhz ram (like the existing factory ram) ?

Thanks for the information and advice
