I have the ideapad s145 and im having the same issue. I just bought mine less than a month ago. I tried updating the driver, which is standard troubleshooting, but it didnt work. Ive found out online that its a common occurence with lenovo. im going to try and warranty it out. have you solved your issue?

Re:Lenovo Ideapad S540 touchpad not responding

I have the same problem, and my machine is about 8 months old. I only use the TouchPad when travelling, so I'm not convinced that it's a hardware problem. With assistance from Customer Support, I updated the TouchPad driver, but still no luck. In Settings, Mouse, the TouchPad isn't listed.  When I click Mouse Properties, it flags up 'Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device driver', but then Mouse Properties appear (without the additional tab for TouchPad).

In Device Manager, only 'HID-compliant mouse' appears under 'Mice and other pointing devices'. There are two entries for 'Lenovo Keyboard Device', one marked with an error symbol. If I uninstall the latter, it reappears on booting up.

I am fairly convinced that this is a software problem, but would appreciate any advice.
