Lenovo U31-70 Keyboard malfunction after Windows 10 upgrade

I have posted about the same problem few months ago...

After upgrading to windows 10, some keys (Left, Up, PgDn, Delete, Home) stopped working.

In fact, I have tried reinstalling and upgrading the BIOS and the keyboard drivers but nothing seems to fix the problem.

When I click the keys continuously, the keys work sometimes but it stops working after couple of times.

I talked to the customer service several times but they keep instructing me to repeat the same procedures that doesn't solve the problem.

Is there an actual solution for this problem?

Hi there, Jaekang          -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Did you check in safe mode?

Also, does the external keyboard produce the same problem.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo U31-70 Keyboard malfunction after Windows 10 upgrade

Yes, I have tried safemode, re-install and updating BIOS, and even called the customer service multiple times.
However, all the responses from the customer care was that this problem occured for numerous people who updated to Windows 10. Apparently, the customer care thinks this is simply a sofeware issue... but I can't seem to find any forums or blogs about the same problem that I am having.

This experience really made me to rethink about purchasing another lenovo product.

You can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.

No, it was never solved.

I'm sad about lenovo's follow up on issues such as this.

Re: Lenovo U31-70 Keyboard malfunction after Windows 10 upgrade

Follow these steps:

1) Press Windows and X key together and select Device Manager.
2) Locate the Key board device icon. Right click on the driver icon.
3) Select Update driver software.
4) Select "browse my computer for a driver software".
5) Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.
6) Select the driver option according your device model and installed.
7) If this does not work, follow the steps from ‘1’ to ‘3’ and select “Search automatically for the updated driver”.
8) Choose the same steps to update the driver for keyboard as well.

Re: Lenovo U31-70 Keyboard malfunction after Windows 10 upgrade

Try re-seating the keyboard once. Here is the HMM.

If all these procedures doesn't work, I would recommend contacting Lenovo service centres and applying the normal phone techniques.

Schedule a Call-back for faster support

During business hours, you may also engage with live chat support.

Re: Lenovo U31-70 Keyboard malfunction after Windows 10 upgrade

This did not work either.

I've actually used the laptop with malfunctioning keys for a year now... because I'm a full-time engineering student I just don't have the time to let my personal laptop be held at a service center.

When I called and even chat with the lenovo customer support, they continuously told me that this is a software issue and that they will close the case as "solved" when the same problem doesn't occur withing 48hours. But amazingly the problem reoccurs when it goes over that 48 hours. I tried everyting from BIOs update, driver update, system reset, hardware check, but nothing worked. Now that the warranty period is over, I'm just left with this laptop with malfunctioning keyboard.

I even ordered this laptop straight off of the lenovo.com. I'm greatly disatisfied with how the services went.

I'm even wondering if this case can be influenced under the lemon law.

I've only been using lenovo laptops until now, but I'm seriously not thinking of buying the next one from this company.
