Lenovo U41-70 Battery problem

Hi, when my Lenovo U41-70 is unplugged, it won't turn on even if it still has charge inside. The battery LED indicator blinks repeatedly in white after I push the power button when unplugged. (I think white doesn't indicate a lack of charge in the battery)

The laptop only turns on if I plug in the power adapter. And the laptop won't suddenly shut down if i unplug the power after I plug it in, so it means that it still runs on the charge in the battery. But if I shut down and power it up again(when unplugged) it still won't turn on. I think there is a problem with battery detection  (see pictures)

What is the solution for this, as I really need this laptop for work. I can only power on this laptop if I plug it in.

Re: Lenovo U41-70 Battery problem

Welcome to the Forums Austian!

Firstly, I'd like you to open the Lenovo energy management software. There should be a battery section where by you can do battery gauge reset. Could you try that out first and post back on the results?

Just to let you know... I've installed the battery gauge and am right now still performing the battery gauge reset. Will post the results here after I finish.

Re: Lenovo U41-70 Battery problem

Hi, it seems there is a problem with the battery gauge process, as 12 hours after I started it, it won't stop. So I decided to cancel the process.

So far I've temporarily fixed the battery problem by draining the battery of charge (until 0%) then  charging it again. The blinking stopped after I did this, and it was able to turn it on normally when unplugged again. Should I attempt to restart the battery gauge process again? Or should I go to the service center and claim warranty on the battery (If possible, I think it is)?

Re: Lenovo U41-70 Battery problem

Great that all goes well.

If everything seems ok, why need to do batter gauge? Still, I would suggest you to visit the nearest authorised Lenovo authorised support if system is still in warranty.
