Lenovo U410 - Intel Rapid Start Technology

2014-04-27, 4:18 AM

So I recently began started getting the famous "Intel Rapid Start Technology is not enabled" after several months of it working fine without any problems and settings haven't been touch. Along with this, "sleep" option doesn't work. So essentially can I just uninstall Intel Rapid Start Technology and all my problems will go away? There hasn't really been a solution posted and it feels like U310/U410 owners are out of luck.

hi Telstra,

Uninstalling the Intel Rapid Start Technology software should get rid of the "Intel Rapid Start Technology is not enabled' error and Windows will save the sleep/hibernation settings on the HDD - which is normally configured on the 32GB mSATA SSD (selected models).

If you have a malfunctioning mSATA SSD though, you may also wanna change these settings in the BIOS.

1. Set SATA Controller Mode from RAID to AHCI

2. Set iRST support to Disabled

Regards

Thank you the reply. I'll go unistall Intel Rapid Start Technology. My SATA Controller mode is currently on AHCI, but I've heard people's laptops failed to boot when it was switched to RAID. Also, people reported that their laptops failed to boot when they switched IRST off in the BIOS. Hopefully, just uninstalling it will fix all my problems.

Alright, uninstalling IRST removes the error message. The sleep problem is still there. When I wake my laptop from sleep my screen freezes at the login screen.

hi Telstra,

Can you try one of the following:

1. Perform a clean boot

    - this is to to isolate if there's a service / application on startup that's causing the machine to freezes on the login screen after waking up from sleep

2.  Set the HDD to never turn off and disable Hybrid Sleep (hibernate)

3. Run an error scan on the drive to verify its health (eg. via HDTune)
