Model Number

2010-07-22, 15:02 PM

Hi, is there a place that I could identify my model number? How can I know what's the XXX number?

s10-3 0647-XXX?

The reason is I'd like to find out more such as the 2GB RAM that is compatible with it as I went to the shop and they've tried all their Cosair and Kingston RAM and non of it will allow it to boot up.

I believe my model is IdeaPad S10-3 Laptop - 064735U - Black but I'd like to know if there's any way of confirming it.

Hi,

Did you ever find out what ram is compatible? I'm trying to upgrade to 2 GB, and want to know what works before I buy it. I have the same model that you do.

Thx!

Hi Angry_Midget,

The only one I know which is compatible is the KTL-TP3BS/2G RAM from Kingston. Unfortunately, at my country there isn't anyone including Kingston's retailer is taking that and they're not willing to ship to me as first excuse was they're selling in bulks, second the don't ship over to my country even though I'm willing to pay for the shipment package.

I've lost my hope with finding the RAM but I know that the following mentioned model should work based on Kingston's website.

I'm currently running on Ubuntu OS hence the lagging is kinda solve if were to use 1GB on that OS but not on the original Lenovo pre-build running on Win 7 Starter with bunch of Lenovo softwares which literally takes up to 700MB just to boot up the system without even starting any application. I'm just dissapointed on how Lenovo could actually sells such machine with such specs and cause so much hassle to the customer.

But with so much complaints, they eventually did an enhancement on the netbook running on a higher version of processor that allows much more compatible RAMs in the market. If they were to contact all the customer purchasing such failed netbooks they should at least compensate the customer with a 2GB RAM. Which I think that will never happen. Hence, I know that this is my first and last purchasing a Lenovo machine.

Ah yes, I just noticed that on their web site. It seems that the retailers here are selling it for about US$66 or so. I hope you will be able to find it in the future.

Thanks again for the response.

I know it may not be much help now, but I think I can answer the original question. You can get the last 3 digits of the model number by doing the warranty lookup on the Lenovo website. Put in the first 4 digits in the machine type, and input your serial number (even though the example shows 7 digit serial numbers, it will also accept a 10 digit serial like you should have). When you click continue, it should show the full model number.

Also, if you know your model type, you can confirm the specs and whether it ships with DDS2 or DDS3 memory is supported in the PSREF sheets.

Additionally, the community has pulled together some information in this KB article which may be helpful regarding S10-3 compatible memory types.

Good advice dalubhasa, on using the warranty lookup as a resource to determine system config as shipped!

Best regards,

Mark
