Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

dear lamecake, I have never been to the States and therefore untutored in your laws, but every single legal system that I personally know has a legal institute called either guarantee or liability for defects or both. this product is faulty, ergo you will be able to claim your money back. this has absolutely nothing to do with the returning policies of the shops you bought these notebooks in, because those policies are usually regardless of defects. the defect is obvious, that's why you shouldn't even have to argue.

by the way, I'm freakin' glad I gave it back as soon as possible, this hesitant reaction on the part of lenovo's customer support drove me nervous and grumpy. the only problem that is left: I do not see an alternative to the U310 on the same price level (except from acer, but what the hell...), that's why I bought it in the first place. anyone?

The thing is, the shop wont refund beyond the return policy. The only option i have is to have it shipped back for "repair" or lenovo-guarantee claim. (as I have to grant the seller the time to "fix" this problem) This will take alot of time. In this time i will be without a laptop. :(

I just want to see it fixed. Cant be so hard to fix a wifi issue & some energy management drivers upgrade (obvious one here), which are my 2 main concerns atm.

Hello everyone,

Just ask for your money back and if they don't give it throw a big tantrum, threaten to post reviews on tech review sites, take legal action.... I kept mine for a week and then returned it when Lenovo India couldn't fix it. A senior Lenovo management person called me and admitted that this product ( U310) had a problem and they were willing to return my money. This was after I had chased tech support and my dealer for a week and was forced to mail the MD of Lenovo India. All of you are wasting your precious time and energies for which they aren't going to compensate you but atleast you make sure that they give your money back. I got the exact amount back after a week or so with minimal formalities and papers that I was required to sign ( DOA certificate). They don't want any legal action and it is in their interest to return the money with minimum fuss for a product that is obviously defective.

@jimmbo, not in all countries it is so easy as you tell.

I've contacted support of shop there I bought u310. They know about this problem, but they need confirmation of it is factory marriage from authorized service for each refund of laptop until publishing official return policy for all u310. Bureaucratic hell.
But there is no choice, and tomorrow I will send my laptop to the service and will be a month without a computer.

Exactly as Zigbee said.

I still have confidence these issues can be fixed. And trust me they will. I doubt all u310/410 owners will get a refund. They will want to prevent that at all costs. It's just the speed at which Lenovo is operating that is disturbing. I can understand its difficult to develop/test/release driver/bios updates, but with so many angry customers it would be wise to report more often on the progress.

Funny tho that the S430 model has been pulled back from pricelists also. (perhaps its facing similar issues?)

Lets hope Lenovo comes with some solid information soon, as they are busy taking a big PR hit. (this sort of info is spreading rapidly throughout the tech community, regardless of attempts to praise the product.) Everybody makes mistakes, its just how these mistakes are handled that determine the impact.

hello, community,

same problem here,

u310 with broadcom card.

pathetic wifi-performance. i'm very disappointed, wifi is the most important feature on a laptop for me.

since the last reply by lenovo was one week ago, it seems the service is as bad as the quality of the notebook.

evidence of incapacity for this company...

i'm gonna wait 2 more days, then i will return it

Even though I sent my U310 back, I'm coming back from time to time to see if the problem is solved. In that case I might buy this laptop again.

But by now it really seems that there is a hardware problem. Perhaps Lenovo used the cheapest available components to lower the price and this is really the best wireless performance you can get.

If it was a BIOS issue, they would have released an update by now. Or at least announced a coming BIOS update. The lack of any specific information on this issue unfortunately looks very suspicious :(

So Lenovo, it would be really good if you could provide information about what is happening now.

Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

To complicate things even more....my U310 wasn't working and then i called lenovo and was told to uninstall antivirus and disable the firewall software. This worked for about 2 hours.

I was frustrated for a few days, decided to reformat the computer to factory and it started working again. I called lenovo back and they said there wasn't a problem. I spoke to 2 different people. In the end they told me to call post sales and they would ship me a new one. I called post-sales and explained to them what was happening and I am apparently waiting for another machine.

Miraculously, after 4 days I decided to see if it worked and it did. The U310 has been working for 2 days now. I then opened up my W500 Thinkpad which is a great machine and interestingly the wireless connection wasn't working on that. Then the wireless connection went dead on the U310. I shut down the W500 and now both wireless connections do not work.

Here are the resuts of the speedtest when the U310 was working

Now my U310 and W500 do not connect wirelessly. Never had a  problem with W500 until the U310
