Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

2012-08-09, 14:56 PM

Hi Mark, thanks for your reply.

Just bought my Lenovo U410 in Germany, a week ago. I share the same wireless problems as the other users.

Can you provide a link to download the update ? I drove hours to get my Lenovo, don't want to drive back in Germany just to do an update (and if I must I will just change it for another brand).

Thanks for the info !

Hello mark,

I'm Thai, I brought u310 (S/N QB05094411) last week from Thai dealer which manufactured on 2012 Jun 10 and I saw performance of the wireless adapter is very very low so I want to change the new one which manufactured after 2012 Jul 23 but I think, now the stock of this model in Thailand maybe manufactured older than 2012 Jul 23. How i can do for this issue ? Please advise"

Thank you in advance

lamecake, apanican,

This is a hardware update and unfortunately is not something that the customer can do themselves -  it has to be implemented through service.   Thanks for sharing your concerns on implications of having previously opened your system to change SSD or other options - I'll check with our teams and see what I can advise about that.

Zigbee,

I saw your prior note on part hold.   As you can imagine, we are working to address this as quickly as possible.

Can you send me a PM with your contact information, your system serial # (if you have that available) and your service case number?  Will see what we can do to help.

toschin,

I would advise you to contact Lenovo support - I think that will be the fastest way to obtain the update.

Mark

Mark,

Does lenovo support across the globe know about the fix? I mean i want to ensure that i will not have to explain the entire story about this forum to support team when i contact them.

Dear Mark,

I stay at E Mariposa Segundo California. Which service center should I go there to get a fix?

Btw, could they do the update quick at the weeken, cause I must use my laptop on week days.

Hello Mark,

I really need the laptop for school so i can't send it to the repair center.
Is there a way to check de laptop if its manufactured before 23 juli or after.
Because then I can swap it in the store where I bought it.

Can anyone who has a model produced after the 23. july confirm that the wifi issue is fixed?

What about the issue when having a USB3 HDD plugged in?

Mark, two questions:

1) Does the fix you've developed merely make the wireless speed acceptable, or will it make the wireless run at full speed like other laptops?

2) After the fix has been applied, will it make the wireless the same speed and quality and a newly purchased U410, or is the fix to the broken Ideapads a different solution compared to the newly manufactured Ideapads?

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS028799

if this is the updated driver,  which at the bottom says last updated august 9 2012.  I downloaded and updated my driver and it did increase the range of my wifi, but the speeds were still slow.
