Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

Mark, thanks for your response on our story.I think more detail is in order though. What was the issue, hardware, or software? Did you recall laptops manufacturered prior to July 23rd or are you making any attempts at informing those customers (or potential customers) that there is an issue? Are you going to let retailers continue to sell pre-July 23rd units to customers with no warnings about the issue?

Ben

Im from Malaysia. I'm haing the same issue too with my lenovo u410 (65CN13WW), broadcom wifi card. My wireless network connection status speed never higher than 72mbps. I tested with my gf's laptop Toshiba M840, and it got stable connection with 150mbps ...

Due to the amazing lack of alternatives to the U310/U410 at this very price level, I'm actually brooding over buying the machine once again. However, I really do not feel the need to send it back again on account of the same problem as before, therefore I need to know how to make sure my new machine is going to be the U310 2.0 (after 23rd of july). I want to place my order with amazon, because I always do it, so - how? Give me a good answer and I'll buy again, forgiving like a mother**bleep**er.

Hi Mark, Lenovo Team,

I have downloaded and install the latest version (dated 9th aug).

I am now not sure if it got installed correctly as the date stil says 26/10/2011 V 5.100.82.112.

If this is correct - then my Wifi problem still persists - i dont see any difference or gain in the wifi speed, please advice.

Thanks

Dheeraj.

Hello together,

I think benz145 has a very important point. Are you recalling the items produced prior to the date you mentioned?

Right now, I have the feeling, that just people who are complaining are getting proper treatment!

I think Lenovo as a computer manufacturer with high ambitions should accept its failure and start a recall!

This is no B to B market as Lenovo is used to operate in.

This whole issue could do far more damage to the brand.

Coming back to the topic. My girlfriend and I decided to send it in to an Lenovo service centre in Germany via the retailer, we bought it at.

After receiving the notebook back, the above mentioned complications took over again. I am kind of getting really frustrated.

In Germany manufacturers have the two opportunities to get your new item fixed, before you as a customer my actually get your money back. One done. Next to come.

Hopefully the message of having these kinds of issues and how to fixe them, has arrived at this service centre yet!

Anyway,

Viele Grüße

Dennis Hornig

@dheerajthota

I downloaded the update also..now Im regretting it. Along with the update, I bought a netgear adapter and I noticed that my battery is only getting 4 hours on a full charge and not the 5 hours or 6 hours when I unboxed the u310.. Do you have the same problem after updating?

@dawn&dheera

That "update" is just the same driver as already available since a month. It did not fix anything. Like Mark_Lenovo said, the U310/U410 models need HARDWARE changes. This needs to be done by Lenovo service specialists. Whoever told you a driver update was all that you need, was misinformed.

Question @ Mark/Lenovo: Do all Ideapads manufactured prior to July 23 necessarily have the discussed problem? From which point on it starts beeing a problem, indeed? My U310 works properly in a distance of 3-4 m to the router at home (don´t need more). On the other hand I´m slightly irritated because of more or less regularly difficulties of the book finding the personal hotspot of my smartphone outside my office but in obviously very close distance. It often works only if I switch the personal hotspot of the phone off and on again. Should I have my U310 serviced anyway, or could the problem with the personal hotspot be caused by my phone, too?

Thanks/Cheers

Armin
