Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

Give them a bad press. Put them down,  - on parties, birthdays, and any social medium or forum you can think of. Thats all you can do. They simply suck as a service organisation. Big time.

And to albycar I can only say: Read, and be apalled. If the 'repair' is exactly the same fix as the manufacturing fix for units shipped after 23/7, and that is what Lenovo states, then buying one is Russian roulette. SO DONT.

Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

I'm starting to hate Lenovo. They have been for years abusing loyalty of old IBM customers. Lenovo floods the market with half-baked and badly designed products, ruining the reputation of the legendary Thinkpad brand. Ideapad is one of such products. Nice looking yet half-functional. I may guess, due to its poorly thought a la Apple design, the WiFi radio in U310 has a problem with electromagnetic shielding by aluminum parts. For one or another reason, the fact is that WiFi is malfunctioning - and it does so in Sweden, in USA, and in Russia. In other words, it is a global issue which Lenovo refuses to admit.

The global crisis seems to have taken its toll on Lenovo QA department. I doubt they have any QA at all - I have never seen so many buggy products and so irresponsive support. I was unfortunate to buy my bloody IdeaPad U310 in October this year. The WiFi is malfunctioning as other posts suggest. Hence, the product is defective - yet Lenovo does not appear to care about it. I could not even find where to send the unit for service - they simply do not answer. The BIOS update fails, too - the file 65cn13ww.exe posted on Driver Download site is an encrypted archive - and there is no password, of course. It looks like an act of subotage or deliberate humiliation. Holy crap - it used to be a good brand which now has been totally ruined by monkeys. They still have some marvels - I love my new Thinkpad T430s, I love my old X300, yet it's getting to be more and more like an exception.

Yep, couldn't agree with you more. I had been using Thinkpads when working for IBM, and made 2 fatal mistakes: I assumed these Ideapads to be of the same quality, and I thought Lenovo would still be a reliable company to deal with.

But it's not, and far worse, they're not. Their support is incompetent, arrogant on top of that, and simply not interested.

SO. DONT. BUY. LENOVO.

Similar problems on a new Z580 laptop.  They were good about swapping out the laptop for a completely different one -- exact same problem, despite an hour and a half on the phone with the Lenovo tech, new drivers, etc.

Hello,

I've been researching the Lenovo wi-fi problem and I would like to know what happened with your situation.  Did you return it? Did you ever experience the wi-fi issue?

Thank you

Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

I just received my Ideapad U410 yesterday, and the speed is ridiculously low compared to my other laptop, which is sitting right next to it.

I ran three speedtests:

Ideapad U410 - Download Speed: 1.50Mbps, Upload Speed: 13.29Mbps

Acer Aspire 5740 - Download Speed: 51.29Mbps, Upload Speed: 45.01Mbps

I can't even watch a YouTube video without it stopping every 5 seconds for several minutes. Insane!

I'm calling Lenovo first thing tomorrow morning. I'm not sure it will solve anything, but I'm posting here thinking there is strength in numbers. The more people complain about this issue, the more likely Lenovo is to take measures to solve it (one would hope).

This thread already has close to 600 replies. Lenovo is NOT fixing this issue properly whatever we post here. Would just return the laptop if you still can. Lenovo support is just plain crap. Serious design problem, no recalls, Replace the HDD and there goes your warranty, drivers are outdated or not working (w8 counterparts), bios updates not working, etc etc. All you get here is standard replies from people who are not even paid for it (no disrespect for their good intentions, but no proper support)

Hey Mark, is there any fix yet? I have reported the issue to the support, but no use!! It's really frustrating!
