It's not the N2230 card that is the problem. It is the driver. Proof: With windows 8, you don't need any of those driver provided by the manufacturer of the card or the laptop. Just use windows 8 own driver and those problems reported will be gone.

So. Do you think that there is a lot of people that can't understand this solution?

It goes back to the previews era of win 8. Problems had been asked so many times in Intel's own forum with this only solution I found that produces a positive result. To answer your question, yes. People are so use to the idea of drivers from the manufaturers of peripherals that they still insist on installing them. Another good example is the usb3.0 port driver.

Potential Fix for 2013 U310 WiFi slowness

2013-08-12, 1:39 AM

I hope this helps those suffering with slow WiFi.

Goto "Control Panel / Network and Internet / Network and Sharing Center"

Select "Change Adapter Settings"

Right click on "WiFi" (aka Intel Centrino Wireless..." and select "Properties"

Scroll down to "Intel Centrino Bluetooth + High Speed Pro" and uncheck it.

Click "Ok" to finish.

You should see a dramatic improvement in your wireless performance.

I am still researching why. Please let the forum know if this helped.

Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

2013-08-25, 6:15 AM

I just purchased a U310 touch on August 15th 2013. I noticed this forum but after hearing from other areas that the wifi issue was fixed, I went for it. Let me say the wifi issue is not fixed and my computer was made on April 2013. I called Lenovo tech support and after being hung up on 4 times, 2 people saying they can't hear me, 1 guy who wouldn't help because i had an open ticket with another tech support person. And the last guy telling me to return it because he said it was a defective network card. Do not buy this laptop I purchased mine through Microsoft Store online student discount and I swapped it out for an ASUS S400CA. Hopefully that one will work better than the u310.

Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

My U310, produced 2/2013, has the same problems. "Problems are solved" --> Are you kidding? Do they even check the notebooks before they sell them? My previous lenovo notebook made a really good job, but now i'm just dissapointed.

Sometimes many Wifi-Networks are found, sometimes just one or none. Even worse: I need my notebook badly for university and it doesn't find the university-network (although the signal was strong on my previous notebook). 5 metres away from the router I almost have good reception and acceptable download-speeds, but with one wall between notebook and router the reception still has 4/5 bars, but the speed is half as much.

I spent a lot of money to be able to work properly with office and to use the internet. But it seems like I expected too much. I tried out every single "solution" in this thread, but it didn't work out. I don't want to open the case because of the warranty.

Is there anyone who has another solution?

Is there anyone from lenovo who can take a stand to all the users having this problem instead of ignoring us and telling us that the problem is solved? It obviously isn't.

Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

I liked the look of this laptop and assumed that by now the wifi must be sorted. I purchased a U310 i3 touch in the UK, built on 1-April-2013. However, this has exactly the same problem as mentioned at the start of this thread. Running a speedtest (http://www.speedtest.net/) on a 5Mb/s broadband connection over WiFi I get ~5Mb/s when ~1 metre from the wireless router, but this drops to ~400Mbps about 5 metres aways and the connection becomes intermittant.

I got a replacement (built 24-Feb-2013) - this performed exactly the same. I've tried this with 3 routers in 2 different houses. Other laptops/devices have no problem maintaining full speed over wifi.

I tried the various solution mentioned in this thread, but none had any affect. While tweaking power-settings or drivers may improve performance in some cases, what I am experiencing is something more fundamental. Clearly some people seem to have satisfactory wifi performance - so it is very difficult to determine how widespread the issue is - maybe I have just been unlucky.

Just to be completely clear: this problem makes even web-browsing virtually unusable more than a couple of metres from the router.

The behaviour that you're describing is clearly the cause of antenna plugs getting squished by the laptop bottom cover which results to poor range and performance of the adapter. I remember reading some pages back there's a user who tested the Wi-Fi without the cover and the poor performance and range was fixed. Of course it's not the best solution, but this points out that the cover is making the connection become loose. I'd say you try to do the same and see the range improved by running the laptop without the bottom cover.

Bought one off ebay a week ago...  I unistalled al of the bloatware, especially the antivirus software that came with the initial install from factory.  Also uninstalled the lenovo easy update program.  Seems i do not have any wifi problems and mine was manufatured on 06/11/2012.  I have the i3 version.
