Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

So I called Lenovo support and all they had me do was totally reinstall Win8.  After trying tons of different things, this actually worked!  Seemed too simple a solution after looking through all of these posts but it worked for me so maybe give that a try before some of the more invasive solutions.

Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

I have recently bought a unit of U310, the internet was initially accceptable. However, after upgarding to WIn 8.1 it started to be very slow. So I tried restore my laptop to Win 8, and it was better. It seems like the internet became slow again today, I am thinking to buy a micro wireless adaptor as advised, hopefully it will be okay then.

Yeah definitely!

There are more issues than just the Wifi in my opinion though, i'm having issues with my keyboard as it's so flimsy it just seems to stop working every so often, bending the case aroun fixes it.

drbnc,

With the Belkin N300 are u getting max speed when u are away from your router like another room or floor? That is the issue with the builtin wifi is that speeds are max when in same room as routet but when u move like 10 feet away speeds cut in half and less.

The N300 speeds are exceptional. Getting max speed throughout the house (2 story, around 3000 sq ft). Right now (in the kitchen) I get around 8-10 mb/sec on built-in card, 45+ mb/sec on N300).

I've given up on the built-in card on this laptop, even though the same card is perfect on my Toshiba P50.

Mark - my U310 manufactured 8/29/12 (bought new in box from eBay) has all same wifi problems the multitudes have spoken about.  Searched three threads, cannot find the best solution.  Which date, by whom, is it, please?  Or could I just get an external wifi card?  Don't have any shielding tape as some have said and don't want to trash warranty.

Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

I have the same WiFi problems everyone with the U310 have.

My lap top has a build date of May 2013, so the wifi problems from 2012 were not fixed.

It is clearly a defect and Lenovo has no fix.

Today I installed a Belkin N150 external USB Wifi and I get a much stronger signal and see many more wifi networks than the Lenovo internal Wifi.  I do not get network connection problems like I did with the internal WiFi.

Lenovo should step up and resolve the problem for all.  Instead they hide the problem, don't notify customers, and continue to sell defective laptops.

I would not recommend Lenovo to anyone.  This has resulted in many hours of wasted time on a new Lenovo laptop.

I have a U310.

I have also experienced WiFi problems and connecting an external USB does not seem to solve the issue.

My computer was made 03/2013.

I am wondering if there has been any progress on this issue? is there a solution... any type of solution....

Lately I have also been getting BSOD when the WiFi disconnects and reconnects multiple times.... I don't know if it's a hardware issue or if could be an incompatible driver... let's just say I have been experiencing multiple problems with my WiFi

Try fifty thousand plus views on the first post and many others...  IBM sees no issue with this... Its our fault, ours to fix or waste money trying to troubleshoot and fix ourselves.. Shameless

PS ive upgraded to AC router in my house... Most of my other devices 50+ Mbps, tried the wifi on my U310 barely breaks 3Mbps LOL what a waste of almost $900 last year!
