Re: My new u310 gives really low speeds on wifi

2012-07-16, 10:49 AM

Dear Lenovo User,

I see that most of the bios up to date , For the last possible solution from my side is below ;

  1. Please Go to Device Manager  , unistall the wireless device driver completly.
  2. Restart the PC
  3. Go to Device Manager Right Click Network Adapters Scan For Hardware Changes , let the windows recognize the driver itself.
  4. It may not recognize for first time , you may need update windows by connecting machine internet using ethernet cable.

I also strongly advice if the solution above not work do one time One Key Recovery. Restore Intial Back Up

How to do one key recovery :

Shut Down the computer. Find the one key recovery button on keyboard area and press on it. It should be look like this below. Then you will see windows is loading files , after that you will see OKR environment. Choose One Key Recovery and Make Restore Intial Back up . Before doing steps , you should back up your personal data photos documents etc if they are on C Drive. Your D drive will not effected by initial restore you can back up  if you dont have external storage device. Let me know if there is something not clear.

While it might work, this seems really drastic to me.  Shouldn't Lenovo service techs be helping us through a process like this?  These are, after all, brand new laptops?

All,

I believe our engineering team is making progress on this issue and I appreciate the feedback that you have provided so far.  Until we have an official fix, efforts to bombard service or agitate with local servicers are not going to resolve the problem.

Until a fix is released and a formal tip issued, calling different call centers in different countries / regions will likely generate different responses as the agents attempt to do problem determination.

I understand that some of you have been posting here for a couple of weeks, but it does take a bit of time to test, gather enough information to determine the root cause and then develop a field plan.  Drivers can often take several weeks to develop and test - the ones being offered in this thread may improve the performance, but are probably not a solution for everyone.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused - we are working to get this resolved.

Best regards,

Mark

Re: Lenovo U410 problems connecting to wireless network

Hi guys,

Yes even I had the same problem - bought in Amazon :

 1. tried all new drivers

 2. tried all different settings as well

I get good internet speed with other model laptops with n series wifi (sony / dell ) etc.

Also guys have you noticed - your wifi disconnects and doesnot connect untill you remove - when you connect a USB 3.0 WD portable HD in USB 3.0 port... which is very annoying...

I think Lenovo has to call back all the U410 laptops and fix them all - its their reputation thats getting spoiled .

I already own 4 lenovo models and this is the first time they had a flaw in the design...

Theres already a big topic open on this subject. Seems a big majority of the U310 & U410 models have a big issue with Wifi.

At least today a Lenovo rep commented that they are aware of the issue and are working on it.

I think it is safe to say that there is no need to restore factory images / download chinese drivers / etc, as it is very obvious that this problem is spotted by many users already, with both U310 and U410 models, and with different wireless cards.

Lets hope Lenovo can come with a fix soon.

Again, in the meantime i would advise not to format/reinstall/fiddle with drivers, as at this moment, there is no clear fix.

Hi Mark,

Yes even I have the same problem with Wifi - waiting for that fix  dont want repeat description...

Also I have noticed -  when you connect a USB 3.0 portable HD (WD 500GB my passport) in USB 3.0 port..

wifi disconnects and doesnot connect untill you remove it-

(works fine when connected to USB 2.0 port).

Is this related to the same issue ? Will this fix it as well????
