Please...someone save my Lenovo

2009-11-08, 22:37 PM

Hi all,

I bought my lenovo u330 last year and recently after realizing how my battery life wasn't nearly up to par with what they advertised I tried to update my drivers and bios. I stumbled upon a thread with the new bios - which I obtained from http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_988.html# During my update of the bios, my computer completely froze (nothing at all was moving, even using the power off button wasn't working). Eventually I had to pull the battery and the power. Now my computer is stuck in a state of nothingness, it will turn on but I only get a blank screen with all media keys lit and nothing seems to happen. I've backed up my data and have tried to use the one key recovery button, but that doesn't seem to have any effect either.

I tried calling Lenovo US but since I'm in school in the UK right now she said they can't really help and only suggested I try the recovery button. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Anything will be amazing right now.

Thanks all

I found a site from lenovo that seems to teach you how to reset your bios - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-45385.html

Does anyone know how I can access this part of my laptop> I've taken off chunks but don't know how to locate this piece,

Thanks

see if you can find an HMM or Hardware Maintinence Manual for your laptop. if you do post a link back here because i'm sure someone else could use it.

Good luck trying to find a service manual. I've asked around here and not even one mod answered my question. It seems they will only respond if it is a matter of losing a customer.

Hi dsides,

Just a reminder that this is a user-to-user help community, moderated by volunteers like me. Although employees do fly by from time to time, it is not a monitored Lenovo support channel.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Thanks for the replies guys. Another forum told me that the link I posted only works for tower pcs and not for laptops.

What I did was I called Lenovo and they tried to work through several methods with me (such as having the power cable out as well as battery, holding down power button then to try and drain the motherboard) but in the end nothing worked and my laptop got shipped off. I believe the motherboard is being replaced.
