Re: S10-3 Ram issue

2010-07-10, 1:06 AM

Thanks for replying. On my understanding the difference between 667 MHz  and 800 MHz shouldn't matter for whether the memory will fit. Could it be that my model uses DDR3? Is there an easy way to find out?

The easiest way to check is open LLT, select Diagnostics >  Advanced System Details > Memory. This will show individual slot details and what type of RAM is installed.

Hi, depends on CPU & Chipset  which kind of memory could be used @ all.

facts by intel spreadsheet Intel Atom CPU N4xx

Intel Atom N450 Max Mem Size 2 GB Memory Types DDR2-667

Intel Atom N470 Max Mem Size 2 GB Memory Types DDR2-667

Thats the both used in Ideapad S10-3 or S10-3t  ....so no DDR3 till now

(Intel Atom N455 Max Mem Size 2 GB Memory Types DDR2/DDR3  Channels 1 CPU Not used in Idepads)

Intel Atom N475 Max Mem Size 2 GB Memory Types DDR2/DDR3  Channels 1 S10-3s  will comes with DDR3 @ first  time...

Thanks for your help. It turns out that my machine takes DDR3 667Mhz (PC3-10700H) memory. (At least that what system information tells me.) I'll try that.

Let us know if that solves the problem. It should, as that is what your system reports as the correct type of memory. The first slot is the original RAM reporting to you it's type, speed, etc. Going by that, I would think, is the best answer for finding the correct RAM for your system.

S10-3s 2GB Memory Upgrade didnt work

2010-07-11, 1:54 AM

I upgraded to 2GB Kingston KVR1333D3S9/2G.  It is a PC3-106000 SODIMM, similar to the Samsung module that comes with my S10-3S.  Unfortunately, my S10-3S only shows blank screen when powered up.  Any idea if Kingston is compatible with S10-3S?

Thanks in advance.

I am dealing with the same issue as jsch but don't have the knowledge about computers that he does. I would like to follow the suggestion by werdna but I don't know what "LLT" is any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Strawcuter,

LTT is Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox.

click on Start > Programs > Thinkvantage and select Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox. It may take a momment to scan your system. Once done follow the instructions I layed out in the post above.

If you dont have LTT you can get it here; http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/LENV-DIAGS.html#ltb

wrdna, thank you very much. I have downloaded Thinkvantage and will look for information about my memory tomorrow. It's after 10:00 pm and I need to get to bed. Again thank you for your help. I think that I will be able to talk with folks with some degree of intelligence about what I need to upgrade the memory.
