Re: S10-3S: BIOS Update issue -> Recovery procedure possible ?

sorry madam, but that´s bs big time!!!

if there are spare parts missing there´s no possibility to communicate with the customer????

he sent two fax-messages and didn´t get an answer!

poor and lousy service, that shows a huge ignorance.

i´m spreading this behaviour among friends and colleagues...lenovo -> dead for me; IBM where have you gone!!!

SkyHawk, did you respond to Katarina via PM with your Call Reference Number?

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: S10-3S: BIOS Update issue -> Recovery procedure possible ?

Sorry, i wrote in "native german" to Ottensener Smiley Wink

Hallo "ottensener",

Re: S10-3S: BIOS Update issue -> Recovery procedure possible ?

Hi,

last Friday i call the Repair Center in Heppenheim near Frankfurt.

The man on the phone tells me, that again an part is not on stock and must ordered from Lenovo in China.

They tells me, the part is the LCD Bezel ... . My lenovo don't have a problem with this ... now i must wait

again ... i update you ASAP !

..for native Germany Speaker:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: S10-3S: BIOS Update issue -> Recovery procedure possible ?

   Help me, please!

I flashing in my S10-3s incorrect 38CN11WW.WPH. After that,  netbook normally loaded Splashtop (press QuickStart button), but not loaded Windows.  At attempt to load Windows, I see black screen with blinking cursor.

I tried create wincris disk with bios.wph from LM30_0224.exe. But result of recovery - black screen and brick. Replacing bios.wph to previous incorrect bios.wph and flash using wincris disk,  return netbook to previous state - normally loaded Splashtop (press QuickStart button), but not loaded Windows.

I'm shock'd and  wait for your help!

    Thanks!

Re: S10-3S: BIOS Update issue -> Recovery procedure possible ?

try to set default settings for bios/ save and exit.
if it doesn't work, take a look the thread below, the process is the same but just replace the bios.wph.

Re: S10-3S: BIOS Update issue -> Recovery procedure possible ?

Thanks, but replacement pflash16 on the new version hasn't helped. The flashing correct bios.wph leads briked netbook.
At result - I flashing old incorrect bios.
There are other ideas?

Re: S10-3S: BIOS Update issue -> Recovery procedure possible ?

if you have valid warranty, ship it back to lenovo support center.
( warranty will cover )

also, remove the ac power and press power button for 20-30 seconds. then try to switch the computer. it may also help.

Re: S10-3S: BIOS Update issue -> Recovery procedure possible ?

I too have a bricked S10-3S after flashing the bad BIOS update.  Unfortunately, I am currently touring overseas, and will not return to the country in which I bought it.  Because I don't have an international warranty, Lenovo will not help me.  This is a crisis for me, as the machine is my lifeline while abroad, and cannot be replaced at my current location.  By issuing a destructive, inadaquetely-tested update and refusing to do anything about it, Lenovo has caused me enormous difficulty abroad.

I'm desperate for a solution that doesn't incolve replacing the system board.  I've created a Phoenix Recovery Disc on a 2 GB USB drive as described in several posts, and tried it in all ports while holding Fn+R and pressing the power button.  So far it hasn't worked.

Is there anything else I should try?  Might a USB floppy work better?  Can I reset the BIOS by shorting a jumper on the board?  Has anyone successfully reflashed the BIOS with a chip programmer?

Many thanks for everyone's continued efforts to unbrick these machines.
