S340-15IWL does not work HDMI

2019-09-08, 14:52 PM
I bought a laptop S340-15IWL DOS, installed W10, installed drivers from Lenovo website, HDMI does not work.
Changed to the same laptop, the same problem. What could be?
Cable and TV are working, checked with another laptop. I tried different cables.

Hello

Please ensure that your OS is installed correctly in UEFI only mode, or change the settings accordingly in the BIOS after installing the OS. Windows 10 supports UEFI only mode and we need this option enabled in the BIOS for the OS to work correctly with drivers and the unit.

First, you must update your windows up to new version. At this time, ver 1093. If you do not know ur ver, type Winver in Run.

Second, Change your OS from Legacy to UEFI

+ Push shift button and choose reset.

+ Choose Advanced Start-up>Troubleshoot -> Advanced Options>Command Prompt.

+ Type in DOS Prompt

mbr2gpt /validate

mbr2gpt /validateIf your sceen have : Validation completed successfully. Continuous next steps.

+ Type in DOS Prompt

mbr2gpt /convert

Wait for a minutes

If it done, reset your computer with push F2  to login BIOS, change Legacy to UEFI . It's done.

Goodluck!

I have the exact same problem on the exact same device. Checked the BIOS and it is on UEFI already, so the problem is not there. Can you help me?

Hello,

I have the same issue with my HDMI. I change the boot setting and the HMDI works, however, the maximum volume of the laptop speakers is much lower now. How can I have both a functioning HDMI and lound speakers???

The only way I have been able to get this to work is by using a 'repeater' dongle on the HDMI cable.  My boss is saying she will not buy Lenovo computers again if they can't work with basic HDMI connections without a load of trouble.

Re:S340-15IWL does not work HDMI

After 7 months I can say that the HDMI problem came back. I don't know if it is a Microsoft Windows "feature" or there is a physical problem with the laptop. The monitor can sense that I pluged in something (because I can see is waking up), but there is no signal and no detection on my lenovo laptop. Tested with an Alienware Monitor and a Samsung TV, each with its own different cables.

I have bitlocker enabled, UEFI on, and up-to-date updates for Windows and Lenovo System update (inclusive BIOS). I just cannot do "a work around" anymore for basic needs.

I took this laptop for portability, but it will end as a rock on my desk. I am dependent of multiple monitor setup as a basic need for me, and this Lenovo device is not doing justice for the money that i paid for it. I still feel that I am paying for it, with my time and my knowledge. C'est trop cher monsieur!!!

I have a presentation on a projector in a few days. What should I do with this "laptop"?

I will invest in a Dell Laptop. I do not recomend Lenovo laptops.

Re:S340-15IWL does not work HDMI

Somehow in BIOS the boot mode was Legacy and not UEFI. Maybe the BIOS update did some changes. But when BIOS mode goes from UEFI to Legacy, a BitLocker encrypted drive will ask for a key to boot normally. This didn't happen.

Anyway, the HDMI output is working gain.

Thanks!
