S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

hi there.

I have Lenovo ideapad S510p and currently running on Windows 10 Pro (64Bit). I upgraded it from Windows 7 Ultimate.

I recently upgraded my Audio driver using device manager on Windows 10 pro. When i first upgraded the audio driver (Around a week ago) Dolby Advanced Audio v2  had gone and instead of it i had Dolby Advanced plus in the RealTek and now again when windows installed update today Dolby Advanced plus is also gone. I didn't update Audio driver today.

I just want to know if Lenovo has removed Dolby Advanced Audio v2 or Dolby Advanced Plus after the recent Windows updated. I never got any error for the audio. I checked in Task Manager,  Device Manager, Program Files, Program Data, App data, etc and i didn't find even a folder of Dolby Advanced Audio v2.

P.S. When i upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro, I didn't have any problem.

Please let me know what has happened to Dolby Advanced Audio v2 and how can i get it back if i want to?

I hope i will get a reply soon.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards.

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Hi Sentient ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Everytime Windows update perform its automatic update it would replace current drivers you have and replace it as it sees as more updated version from its own database changing the OEM drivers version to a Microsoft native drivers.

You may try to initially perform system restore before the date windows update occur since it would create a restore date . If you manage to restore older driver version with the Dolby audio then stop automatic updates for the drivers to prevent this from auto changing it .

Else moving forward you can also install the audio drivers intended for your model compatible for windows 10 and see if that would be able to restore the dolby enhancements

If that fails to restore , you can try versions from Windows 7 and right click to run on compatibility mode.

Update us as it goes .

Regards

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Thanks for replying.

I did the update manually for the Audio driver from Device Manager on Windows 10 Pro. I will uninstall the audio driver using device manager and download audio driver from Lenovo website for my OS. Just wanted to know why does this happen? Is there no update for Dolby Advanced Audio v2 recently for Windows 10?

Also to get back Dolby Advanced Audio v2 back, downloading the driver from here http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/IdeaPad-S-Series-netbooks/IdeaPad-S510...Smiley FrustratedSmiley FrustratedSmiley Very Happy

and installing the downloaded driver over the installed one will work or not? Or do i have to uninstall the current Audio Driver and install the new downloaded one from the above link?

Regards.

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Hi Sentient ,

Greetings.

Were you able to perform system restore.

This change happened as automatic Windows Update would try to provide its own audio driver version as provided links above.

To prevent this : Disable automatic device driver download in Windows 10

Before installing any driver , best that you fully uninstall it first .

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Thanks for replying back soon.

I don't have the system restore point of that driver install now as it was deleted. I download the realtek driver from the lenovo website from the link i gave in earlier post.

Would it be fine if i install that Realtek Driver from the Lenovo website after disabling the auto-autoupdate of the driver.

Also which driver should i uninstall? Took a screenshot from the device Manager as below:

The Realtek High Defination Audio (1&2) or have to uninstall some one too?

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Hi Sentient  ,

Try to uninstall all and check also on programs and features for same audio managers too and remove it before installing the downloaded driver .

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

I installed the driver from the Lenovo website for my Laptop model and it all went fine. I have Dolby Advanced Plus installed now but not the Dolby Advanced v2.

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Hi Sentient ,

The new Dolby Advanced Plus would have the same core programs but options and featured to change is less than Dolby Advanced v2 as discussed on this thread.

Check if this newer version would be workable for you since it would be the one compatible for your new Windows 10.

Else you may try to perform the same uninstallation and try an older version from the same support site for an older OS or smilar driver as this .

Update us how things go.

Regards

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

hi spidey101

I have Dolby Advanced Plus installed and working but when i upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro I had Dolby Advanced Audio v2.
Also in above post it means that Dolby Advanced Plus is just an upgrade from Dolby Advanced Audio v2 and Dolby Advanced Audio v2 was for Windows 7 and 8/8.1.

Now my question is how do i make Dolby Advanced Plus to not go away cause just today i found that it was not there and I had to install the driver again? and will Dolby Profile Selector available for Dolby Advanced Plus?

If I disable the automatic update of drivers in Windows 10 then driver will never ever update, isn't it? will it affect Windows updates as well? How can I keep automatic update of drivers on and still have Dolby Advanced Plus that is not updating after every restart of system?

http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/downloads/ds032125
Its for Windows 8/8.1, is it compatible for Windows 7 for my Laptop model ideapad S510p too? page shows its for ThinkPad L430, L530

and Installing Realtek Audio Driver from here http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/IdeaPad-S-Series-netbooks/IdeaPad-S510...Smiley FrustratedSmiley FrustratedSmiley Very Happy
are both same?

Thanks.

Re: S510P - Dolby Advanced Audio

Hi Sentient ,

Greetings.

Having checked the driver  showing Dolby Advance Audio v2 and Home Theater  version for the Audio Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) exe 294.8 MB as correct driver.

It may be that there was a remnant folder for Realtek that have the Dolby Audio Plus and had the installer assumed.

We would need to fully uninstall both realtek , Dolby driver and folders .

Uninstall audio drivers again from Device manager and check on c:/ program files to look for related folders dolby and reakltek to uninstall  or use a software to fully remove it similar to this with the hunter mode to uninstall .

Then reinstall the same driver again and see if it is the Dolby Advance Audio V2 before disabling auto driver update.

Update us how it goes.

Regards
