S540 Unable to Boot and Shut Down Properly

2019-07-18, 2:10 AM

I recently bought an Ideapad S540 (12GB Ram, Intel i7). The PC is unable to boot despite being fully charged. When pressing the power button, the keyboard and power button light up for 5 seconds, and then goes off. I've waited for it for 5 minutes and it doesn't start up. The only solution was to hold the power button down for 30 seconds, and then it starts up. I've tried with battery power and while plugged in, both suffer from this problem.

After shutting down, if I press the keyboard, it will still light up and show the battery percentage despite not being plugged in. I had disabled 'Fast Boot' and put in various values for 'Timeout' in msconfig, but it didn't solve the problem. I had also tried to shut down via cmd.

For some reason, the keyboard backlight is unable to be turned off. I tried disabling it via Vantage and pressing Fn+Space bar, but it's still on.
