S540 does not turn on

Hello,

 

No one answered my yesterday's question, and here we go - another one....

S540 will not turn on. Battery full, pressing ON button, and the button and keyboard is lightning up for a second, in 5 second intervals. It is not turning on. 

Any ideas?

Hi  ,

 

Welcome to Community Forums!

 

You can try to perform a power drain:

  • Shutdown/turn off the computer
  • Unplug AC adapter
  • Press and hold power for 20 seconds
  • Connect AC adapter, then restart

You can also try using a different charger or connect to a different power outlet and see if that would fix it.

If it's still not turning on after doing the steps, it's a possible hardware failure. 

 

Give us an update on how it goes.

I just got this new Ideapad S340 two weeks ago.  Twice now, it would not power up.   Unplugged everything including power.  Now help.

 

Pressed power button for 5 seconds and the power led went off;  pressed the power button again and power led (on the button) came back on but it still would not power on.  I tried this again, and finally the third time it came up. and I am using it now to type this message.

Any help or suggestions?  All updates and upgrades and latest Windows 10 patches installed.

Is this happening randomly?

Have you checked if there's anything wrong with the power button?

 

You can try to perform a power drain:

  • Shutdown/turn off the computer
  • Unplug AC adapter
  • Press and hold power for 20 seconds
  • Connect AC adapter, then restart

You can call Tech Support for hardware related issues if the unit is under warranty.

Yes, this has resolved the problem, however, it has happened twice in the last week.  I see nothing wrong with the Power on Button.

 

One thing of note.  As far as I remember, both times I had put it into "Sleep" mode and closed the lid.   It seems to occur right after opening the lid and pressing Power on.   Lid switch issues?   Is the Lid switch magnetic or something else?

 

Yes, this is still under warranty, I just bought it on December 5, 2019
